Advanced Vocabulary

Phonograph, noun – any sound-reproducing machine using records in the form of cylinders or discs.
          *Her grandmother has an antique phonograph kept in her attic.
 
Self-educated, adjective – educated by one's own efforts and without formal instruction.
          *The well known scientist was mostly self-educated in his early years.
 
Patent, noun – an official license from the government giving one person or  business the right to make and sell a particular article and to prevent others from doing the same.
          *She took out a patent on her design
(Can also be used as an adjective)
 
Intensely, adverb - very much
          *I dislike that sort of behavior intensely.
 
Numerous, adjective - very many; being or existing in great quantity.
          *The ex-president committed numerous mistakes during his term.
